How 82-0 Guide works

A transparent, unofficial fan analysis for players who want to make better five-player draft decisions in 82-0.

Why this exists

82-0 presents a large set of player, team, and era choices, but the useful question is not simply who had the greatest NBA career. The useful question is which exact row helps a lineup cross the game's win thresholds. This site turns that question into searchable rankings, team-era guidance, and a lineup calculator.

Our scoring model

The calculator uses the five stat categories exposed by the game: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. We apply the observed weights, normalize the totals, and map the resulting lineup score to the game's 82-game record curve. The formula is documented on the Guide & FAQ page so the result can be checked rather than treated as a black box.

Player and team tiers

Player value is the weighted sum of the five stats, plus 0.35 for each eligible position beyond the first. Missing individual stats contribute zero to this ranking value. Tier cutoffs are S+ at 26, S at 22, A+ at 20, A at 18, B at 14, C at 11, and D at 8; values below 8 are F. Perfect Share does not affect these tiers. Neither F nor a missing Perfect Share value proves a player cannot be in a perfect lineup.

Team ratings combine best-pick tier with the five highest stat contributors. The displayed Ceiling does not enforce position coverage or optimize all combinations. Treat it as a stat benchmark, not a guaranteed reachable record.

Perfect-lineup analysis

Perfect Share counts how often a player row appears in valid five-player combinations that reach the 82-0 threshold within the current top-250 analysis pool. It is a theoretical lineup metric, not a claim about spin probability, and it is labeled with its pool size because the full game universe is larger.

Data and update policy

The saved player inputs were originally inspected August 16, 2026 and compared again with the live game on September 22. All 10,626 active entries matched, so no player-data refresh was needed. Rebuilding this website does not refresh the upstream player data or rerun Perfect Share.

Who maintains it

82-0 Guide is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by 82-0.com or the NBA. Feedback is welcome through the button on the homepage, especially when a data row or game behavior appears to have changed.

Inspection history

September 22, 2026: Checked the public game homepage and its loaded scripts. Player file locations now come from the players_model configuration, and results include server-supplied score and score_display fields. The previously public players_flat.json URL returned HTTP 404. The configuration endpoint returned HTTP 401 without authentication. These observations establish a loading-path change, not a verified change to the scoring formula.

A follow-up through normal guest gameplay located live player dataset 2026-06-22.2. All 10,626 active rows matched our names, teams, eras, positions, and five stat fields. The 306 extra rows in our raw archive are inactive 1950s entries.

Two completed Classic games matched our calculator: 66-16 at a displayed 91 points (our score: 91.2), and 56-26 at 79 points. The first included two players with missing defensive stats; the second had defensive stats for all five. The game displays whole-number scores, so these checks do not verify its internal precision, every win threshold, zero-defense edge cases, or other modes.

We corrected our tier and team-benchmark descriptions and added a reproducible lineup comparison. No player inputs or top-250 Perfect Share counts changed.
